Mains of Glamis is one of nine farms farmed by and the base for Strathmore Farming Company. This farming business is run wholly by employed staff as opposed to family members.
The land managed by Strathmore Farming Company extends to 4270 acres (1730hectares) divided into arable land of 2075, long term grass 800, hill and rough land 1315 and pig unit 80.
Farming enterprises include barley, oats, wheat, vegetable production, cattle, pigs and sheep. Land is rented out for potato, peas and carrot production.
The business is managed by the Farms Director, Mr David Soutar, and there are 10 full time staff employed on the farm as well as 2 part time office staff. In addition seasonal student labour and third party staff are employed to help at peak times.
The business is monitored by various quality assurance schemes to provide customers with the knowledge that the products are safe and reared under welfare friendly systems. Strathmore Farming Company is also recognised as an Investor in People.
